When will the tribunal begin?
The tribunal started on September 14, 2009. The First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada did their opening statement and Amnesty International and the Chiefs of Ontario were granted interested party status. Witness testimony was scheduled to begin on November 16, 2009 but the new Tribunal Chair, Ms. Chotalia, vacated all of the hearing dates for reasons we do not fully understand. The tribunal resumes with more procedural issues at 9:30 a.m. on January 19, 2010 and hearings are open to the public. The Caring society is anxious that testimony by witnesses resume as soon as possible given the devastating impacts the funding inequality on very vulnerable children.
